Fix 1: Disable the Proxy
By disabling the proxy will help you to fix this Windows Store error and update error.
- Go to the Internet Explorer and run it. After you need to open the settings, to do this click on the Tools
- Click on Internet Options -> Click Connections tab -> and then click on the LAN Settings
- After it, you need to verify the option “Automatically detect settings”
- Here, confirm that “Proxy server for your LAN” is unchecked
- At last click on apply and restart your PC/Laptop/tablet
After applying all the above steps, try to open the Windows Store and download apps. If the error is still unfixed then apply the below-given solution.
In order to enable the proxy server again in order to connect to the internet then you need to write the proxy information to a second location where windows store proxy settings.
To do this simply follows the below given steps:
- First you need open the Command Prompt with Administrator’s Privilege. Open start menu -> right click on Command Prompt and choose “Run as Administrator”
- After opening command prompt you need to type “netsh winhttp set proxy IP ADDRESS:POR T NUMBER” without double quotes
Note: Replace IP ADDRESS with the address of your system’s proxy server and PORT NUMBER with the correct port number.
At last, hit the Enter key to execute the command.
After executing this command you need to restart computer/Laptop/ tablet and try to access the Windows Store again.
Fix 2: Get Rid of the Update that Triggering the 0x80244018 Error
1: Open the Settings, to do this right-click on the Windows key and choose Settings.
2: Choose the Update & Security and open Advanced Options.
3: Choose Update history and click Uninstall Updates. System will prepare the list of installed updates. Now you need to find and select the update that triggering Windows Store bug and click on the Uninstall.
4: At last, restart the system.
Fix for Error 0x80244018 while Downloading/installing Windows 10 Update
Fix 1: Try after Disabling Windows Defender Firewall
Windows defender Firewall is one of the important parts of Windows 10 system as it prevents a PC/laptop from harmful applications and network.
But sometimes, due to any internal or external malfunction, it prevents users from downloading the latest updates and throws the 0x80244018 error message.

1: Open the Search Box of your PC/Laptop and search for the Firewall.

After it, go to the Private network settings section and verify the option Turn Off Windows Defender Firewall (“not recommended”). Choose OK.
3: Now, again you need to do the same thing as above step. But this time in the Public network settings section.

Fix 2: Ensure BITS runningon your device
BITS or Background Intelligent Transfer Service is one of the important components of any Windows system. If you are receiving 0x80244018 Windows Update Error then there is a chance that a malfunction occurs in BITS.
In order to verify that the BITS is Running properly or not you need to follow the below-given steps carefully:
1: Open the run dialogue box by pressing Window+R. Type the services.msc and click OK.
2: This will open up the Services Window, search for the Background Intelligent Transfer Service in the Name column. After finding, right click on it and choose Properties option.
3: From the properties window of the service.In “Startup type” part, click on the drop-down and choose “Automatic (Delayed Start)”.
4: Again, move on to the Service status part and set it to Start.
Reboot the PC and verify that this error gets fixed or not.
